2nd Phase: Organizing Data - Diagrams - User Journey Map
Understanding a patient's journey
The importance of self-awareness:
Patients - Loved ones - Their community
I had a coffee chat with 2 school mates, who heard about my project and decided to tell me about their journeys as they were recovering from Eating Disorders. The conversation was the key to help me discover a window of design opportunities with an aim to enhance awareness and understanding of Eating Disorders, thus reduce the number of future cases as well as making the recovery journey of a patient more inclusive with the support of their loved ones
I facilitated a workshop in which activities ranged from group brainstorming to empathetic role-play to quick design challenges. The goal is to identify what cause loss of appetite or absence of hunger among healthy individuals, which may lead to health complications in long term.
Understanding the connections between:
Social messages - Self-perceptions - Available Support System
As I expanded my research on the topic, I came to see the central design challenge:
How can design address a mental health problem which has no onefit solution?
This question became the driving force behind my project. Using diagrams and user journey maps to organize my findings, my goal was to draw relevant connections between stakeholders and identify any insights/underlying.
